How Does ICF Work?

Insulated concrete formwork is made of EPS (expanded polystyrene form) shells that stack together to form foundations. When filled with concrete, they create a strong, energy-efficient wall.

The interlocking foam panels are engineered to fit together, forming a continuous insulation barrier that prevents heat transfer and minimises thermal bridging. This helps to regulate indoor temperatures, reducing heating and cooling costs for the lifetime of the structure.

Importantly, our insulated concrete formwork is designed to withstand the rigours of the construction process, maintaining its structural integrity even under the strain of heavy concrete pouring.

The result is a foundation that is remarkably strong, impervious to the elements, and optimised for energy efficiency - the perfect starting point for constructing high-performance buildings that are built to last.

What Are the Benefits of Insulated Concrete Formwork?

  • Strong and Durable: This construction makes the walls stronger and more durable. They offer strong support for buildings and can withstand environmental forces like strong winds, earthquakes, and temperature changes.

  • Water Resistant: ICF walls have greater resistance to water infiltration compared to walls constructed with concrete blocks. These walls are also more resistant to water penetration than traditional concrete walls built by carpenters using formwork.

  • Better Indoor Air Quality: This type of formwork is also better at keeping air in, leading to lower energy costs and reduced dust and allergen pollution inside the building.
